Buffalo Irish Festival finds new home at RiverWorks

The Buffalo Irish Festival is Expanding to RiverWorks for its 35th Year

The 35th Annual Buffalo Irish Festival will be held August 28, 29 & 30 of 2015.  The Festival has been growing every year since it moved to Canalside in 2012.  Last year, some 15,000 people enjoyed the music and culture of Ireland during a beautiful, warm Buffalo weekend.

For 2015, the Festival will make its home at the new RiverWorks Facility on the Buffalo River, in the new, fast-growing Middle Harbor.  This will be the first collaboration between the Shannon Pub, Buffalo Irish Dot Com, Pearl Street Grill & Brewery and their family of companies.  The Lofts at Pearl Street and the Lafayette Hotel will be the headquarter hotels for the festival.

The Riverworks facility, famous for its Labatt Blue Six-Pack of Silos, is the perfect location for the Festival.  The newly popular curling rink (ice removed for the summer, of course) will be home to the Festival’s 30+ vendors of Irish goods and crafts.  And the full-sized hockey rink will host one of the main stages, overlooking the wharf area, the docks, and the Buffalo River.  This riverfront amphitheater area will easily accommodate over 5,000 guests.

The second main stage will be indoors, in a huge multi-level facility featuring several bars, indoor and outdoor decks, a huge kitchen, and plenty of permanent restroom facilities.  Several balconies overlook the festivities and afford wonderful VIP opportunities and vistas of Buffalo’s Middle Harbor.

This year’s Festival will not only have a much larger entertainment budget, but will feature a Sunday Afternoon Celtic Concert Series during each of the eight Sundays leading up to the Festival!

Already booked for the Sunday Series are world-renowned groups from Ireland (The High Kings, The Frances Black Band), Canada (Glengarry Bhoys), and the United States (Town Pants, Cherish the Ladies).  Festival Weekend entertainment is expected to include the Finbar Furey Band from Ireland, The Elders from Kansas City, The Killdares from Texas, and regulars including the Dady Brothers, Burning Bridget Cleary, Seamus Kennedy and many more.

RiverWorks is owned and operated by the Pearl Street of Grill and Brewery family of companies.  For these events, they will be featuring an Irish and American menu, including corned beef and cabbage, Irish lamb stew, Irish bangers and Shepherd’s Pie.  And of course, plenty of Guinness Stout, Harp Lager, and Jameson’s Irish Whiskey to supplement the Labatt Blue products.

Buffalo Irish Dot Com will continue to manage ticketing, promotion, website and entertainment for the festival.  Season tickets will be available soon, including all of the Sunday Series shows, and all three days of the Festival.  VIP season tickets will also be available.  For information on ticketing, visit www.BuffaloIrish.com .

The Battle of the Buffalo Beers/Oktoberfest at Riverworks will be the next project of this collaboration, and will be sponsored in part by the future Hofbrauhaus Buffalo.
